GT Women’s Club Scholarship

The GT Women’s Club Scholarship Program is pleased to award scholarships to deserving GT undergraduates. Preference may be given to those who have a parent or guardian employed by Georgia Tech. Each academic year, up to 6 scholarships of $3000 each will be awarded ($1,500 per semester) to recipients for ANY expenses including, but not limited to, tuition, fees, books, and/or room and board.

Guidelines for Selection of Recipients:

1. Each academic year, the Scholarship Committee will award up to six qualified student scholarships of $3000  (to be divided between Fall and Spring semester). Applicants must be a current full-time enrolled, 12 credit hour minimum undergraduate student in good standing at Georgia Tech and must have completed at least one full semester at GT;

2. Preference may be given to students who have a parent/guardian permanently employed by Georgia Tech or by an organization recognized as an affiliated organization by the GT Office of Legal Affairs and Risk Management.

3. The applicant must fully complete the application. There is no minimum GPA to apply. The applicant must submit a headshot and two letters of recommendation (which may be from GT Faculty or Staff) to the Scholarship Co-Chair, Dr. Brenda "B" Woods, drbwoods@.gatech.edu. By providing their GTID in the application, the applicant acknowledges that Scholarship Chair will access their official electronic transcript, and grants permission for their name and photo to be used in GT and GTWC communications/website and publications.

Where does the money for the scholarships come from?

Since 1990, almost 200 scholarships have been awarded–totaling over $200,000! In the earliest years, GT Women’s Club members generated funds through yard sales and bake sales, and through these efforts established the GT Women’s Club Scholarship Fund. Generous contributions from our members over the past 30 years have grown the GT Women’s Club Scholarship Endowment Fund at the GT Foundation to over $200,000. Initially, scholarships in the amount of $1000 were awarded. Thanks to the continued generosity of club members, the award grew to $1500, then in 2017-18 to $2000. Beginning  in 2026, the award was increased to $3000.  

Donations to the endowment account  support students in the current and future years. Members can also choose to donate directly to the expendable account, in which case the entire amount is used for the awards that same academic year.
